M602 shut both ways in Greater Manchester due to 'police incident'
A major motorway is shut in both directions in Greater Manchester tonight due to a 'police incident'.
GMP have shut the M602 both ways, with the westbound carriageway shut between junction three for Salford and two for Eccles, and the eastbound shut within junction two. It is not clear what the incident is.
A National Highways statement says: "The M602 in Greater Manchester is closed westbound between J3 (Salford, Manchester) and J2 (Eccles) and closed eastbound within J2 due to a North West Motorway Police Group led incident.

"National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene providing assistance with traffic management.
"Westbound diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid circle symbol on road signs:
"Eastbound traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at J2. If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
