M6 LIVE traffic with hour-long delays after crash between motorhome and lorry

Long delays of up to an hour are building on a stretch of the M6 this afternoon after a crash.

According to National Highways, a motorhome and a lorry are involved in the crash on the southbound side of the motorway. Two lanes have been closed off near junction 19 for Knutsford.

Traffic officers are on the scene. Congestion is back to junction 20 for the M56, with hour-long delays up to the closure.

Motorway cameras show long queues up to junction 19. In a post on X, National Highways said: "2 (of 3) lanes are closed on the #M6 southbound #Cheshire within J19 #Knutsford.

"This is due to a collision between a motorhome and a lorry. National Highways traffic officers are on scene and dealing.

"Congestion is back to M6 J20 (#M56) With 60 minute delays."

Travel time through the area is currently around 30 minutes.

Queues should begin to ease shortly.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, traffic is queueing for around five miles up to the previous closure.

The crash has been moved to the hard shoulder.
