M48 Severn Bridge reopens after 'police led incident' - RECAP
The M48 Severn Bridge has reopened after what was being described as a 'police led incident'. The bridge had been closed closed westbound, heading into Wales.
National Highways announced the closure shortly after 10pm. In a Tweet, it said: "The M48 SevernBridge is CLOSED westbound between J1 (Aust) and J2 (Chepstow) due to an @ASPolice [Avon and Somerset Police] led incident.
"Diverted traffic is advised to use the M4 Prince Of Wales bridge as an alternative route into Wales. There are no significant delays in the area."
In a later tweet, at 10.41pm, National Highways said that the "scene is now clear" and the M48 Severn Bridge had re-opened westbound.
