M48 bridge closed with M4 delays as heavy rain causes disruption on Welsh roads

The M48 Severn Bridge is closed in both directions as heavy rain and high winds cause disruption to the road network. A broken down vehicle on the M4 also led to one lane being closed on Friday morning eastbound between junction 35 Pencoed and junction 34 Miskin.

Traffic Wales tweeted just before 7.30am that there was a "lane three closure" for a broken down vehicle on the M4. They urged motorists to "take care" in the area.

The M48 Severn Bridge was also closed in both directions at 7.20am because of strong winds and heavy rain. The diversion is via the M4 Second Severn Crossing.

Traffic Wales is also warning of "poor driving conditions" on the motorway between Miskin at junction 34 to Pont Abraham at junction 49.

Dyfed Powys Police is warning that the road between Cynwyl Elfed and Trevaughan is currently closed because of a fallen tree. They say: "If possible, please avoid the area and take an alternative route."
