Lyndon Dykes believes Scotland spirit can stun Spain as he urges teammates to 'hit them quick'

Lyndon Dykes reckons Scotland can hit Spain quick with a Hampden shock and ensure a flying start to the Euro qualifiers.

The QPR frontman is set to be restored to the starting line-up after battling back from a worrying bout of pneumonia and with Che Adams ruled out through injury. Dykes reckons Steve Clarke’s side are still underestimated by the top nations despite returning to the big stage by qualifying for the last Euros two years ago.

And ahead of the clash with Luis de la Fuente’s superstars the striker said: “They won’t be thinking it’ll be easy. But most teams when they come and play us get shocked with how good we actually are. A lot of the time we get underestimated - then when people realise what we’ve been doing it hits them quick. What we’ve built together with the squad, that’s one of our main aspects because on the pitch it shows how much togetherness and how much of a team we are.

“We have to make sure it’s a tough game for Spain. We need to make sure it’s not easy and hopefully we get the result that helps us push on in the campaign.”

The nations are locked at the top of Group A on three points after both opening with 3-0 victories on Saturday. Hampden is a sell out and the Tartan Army are hoping for one of the biggest nights in a generation against a nation that were world and European champions a decade ago. Spain have since slipped to 10th in the FIFA rankings.
