Lyle Taylor opens up on Birmingham City 'abuse' and Nottingham Forest struggles

Birmingham City new boy Lyle Taylor has given an honest interview about his struggles at Nottingham Forest and his past experiences with the St. Andrew's crowd after completing his transfer across the Midlands.

The striker joins Lee Bowyer's side on loan for the rest of the season as they bid to pull away from the Championship dropzone and improve in the second half of the campaign.

The 31-year-old has endured a frustrating spell at the City Ground, scoring just seven goals in 57 league appearances for the Reds.

Having reunited with Bowyer, Taylor will be hoping to rekindle the kind of form he found under the Blues boss while at Charlton Athletic; his goals helped promote the Addicks in 2019 and earn him the club's Player of the Year award.

The Forest loanee is hoping to put his struggles behind him in the Second City, but he makes no bones about the past year-and-a-half at the City Ground in his first words since completing the short-term deal.

"The last couple of years haven't been fantastic from a footballing point of view, from a point of view of playing games, and that's just me being honest," he told the club's official website.

"I can only be honest, but I made the decision to go to Nottingham Forest. I had all of the information at my disposal when I made that decision, so I can't sit here and say that I would have chosen something else.

"I made that decision myself. Has it worked out, has it not worked out? I'm not sure, but I'm here to play games and win as many games of football I possibly can."
