Lydd Town win final six home games in Southern Counties East Premier Division to climb above relegation zone, Faversham Strike Force win Division 1 title

Lydd Town finished out of the bottom two in Southern Counties East on Saturday – but their safety remains uncertain.

The Lydders did their business on the pitch – winning 2-1 at home to Corinthian – but still have the possibility of a four-point deduction hanging over them.

That hearing cannot be held by the league until the county FA finish with the case, with Lydd’s appeal to the decision not due to be heard until next month.

The league issued a statement earlier this week to confirm they cannot make any decision until after that time.

“We can confirm that the club were charged by the Kent FA with fielding an ineligible player earlier this season,” said the league in a statement. “As is their right, the club have appealed the decision made at county level.

“Only once this case has been completed by the Kent FA can the league, if required, progress any potential league charge.”

Lydd won their last six home games to complete a great escape on the pitch, although the key result was their 2-1 win at Snodland on Easter Monday.

Luke Burdon put Lydd ahead against Corinthian before Thomas Mitcham equalised in the second half. But Will Dempsey scored the winner with 14 minutes left.

That win left Snodland in the bottom two, the Challenge Cup winners losing 2-1 at Kennington, another side who were in danger of finishing in the relegation zone going into the last day of the season.

Liam Middleton and Joe Fisher put the Ton 2-0 ahead in the first half before Stanley Oldfield replied for Snodland midway through the second half.

Stansfeld scored three second-half goals at bottom side Lordswood to steer themselves clear of danger, winning 3-0 at Martyn Grove.

At the other end of the table, the final two play-off places were decided.
