Luke Shaw in protective boot after Manchester United defender suffers injury setback

Luke Shaw has been pictured wearing a protective boot after the Manchester United defender suffered a fresh injury setback.

The left-back missed last weekend’s defeat at Everton after being forced off at half-time during the 1-1 draw with Leicester. Shaw has missed the last couple of weeks' training after having metal bolts removed from his leg.

The bolts were inserted when Shaw underwent surgery 2015 after suffering a double leg-break against PSV Eindhoven. The 26-year-old was troubled by the injury during the clash with Leicester, though, initially receiving treatment on the pitch at Old Trafford before eventually making way at half-time.

Shaw has already been ruled out of upcoming games against Norwich, Liverpool and Arsenal after missing the defeat at Goodison Park. There have since been suggestions that the England international could now miss the remainder of the season.

Shaw’s personal chef posted a picture of himself with the United left-back after preparing his latest meal on Thursday night. The picture showed Shaw wearing a protective boot on his right leg as he continues his recovery from surgery.

United interim boss Ralf Rangnick admitted last week Shaw’s latest setback came as a surprise to him and the club. The German may now find himself having to plan for the final seven games of the campaign without the England defender.
