Luke Littler warns he’s burned out after telling manager ‘I don’t want to play' event

Luke Littler has said he's not one to be dictated by the demands of his schedule – and he will take time off when it feels necessary.

Despite still being relatively inexperienced on the pro darts scene, the newly crowned Premier League champion has made it clear he will take a week off from competing if he wants one. At 17, Littler has journeyed to the United States to participate in this weekend's US Darts Masters, which kicks off at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

Following that, he is due for a well-earned week off in Orlando, Florida, with his family after setting his sights on more silverware during his first trip to New York. The World Darts Championship runner-up explained his rapid success in the sport has afforded him the luxury of deciding when he competes and when he doesn't.

"Next week we're going to Orlando," he told The MMA Hour (via the Daily Express) host Ariel Helwani when asked about his relentless schedule. "There's a competition at the weekend, but I just said to my manager, 'Can I have the week off, [I] don't want to play, [Id' rather] go on holiday'."

Littler went on to say he doesn't get fazed playing in front of new audiences, which is a perk of getting to "pick and choose" which competitions he participates in. The teenager was still competing in junior tournaments as recently as December 2023 but now has his choice of events on the professional circuit.
