Luke Humphries and Luke Littler 'both unhappy' after Swiss Darts Trophy showdown

PDC commentator Dan Dawson was not impressed with the performances of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries during their last 16 encounter at the Swiss Darts Trophy on Sunday.

Despite Humphries clinching a 6-3 win over Littler to advance to the quarter-finals in Basel, Dawson believes 'Cool Hand' must up his game significantly to have any chance of winning the title. Commenting on Humphries' match-winning double 20, Dawson remarked: "To beat Littler, on the Euro Tour again. It's Humphries that wins the battle of the Lukes."

He added: "Neither man happy with how they've played. It's their C, D, maybe their E game and yet it's still mid-90s averages. The world No. 1 goes on into the final session of action in the first-ever Swiss Darts Trophy."

Early in the match, Humphries broke Littler's throw and then held his own for an early lead, reports the Express. Littler, known as 'The Nuke', responded by taking the lead with a 3-2 scoreline after an 80 checkout and consecutive leg wins.

However, Humphries regained control by breaking back, much to the frustration of the young darts player. A dramatic seventh leg ensued, with both players missing doubles before Humphries held his throw to edge closer to victory.

Littler felt the sting of disappointment as Humphries broke him yet again before securing his own throw, leading to an assured victory. Humphries had bigged up his encounter with Littler the prior Saturday night, though its unlikely either contestant considers their match to be particularly historic.
