Luis Palma shrugs off Celtic bit part status to issue Rangers rallying cry ahead of title showdown

Luis Palma was warned his Celtic teammate there can be no slip-ups against Rangers despite the Honduran insisting the champions have returned to top form.

Glasgow's big two go head-to-head this weekend in a potentially decisive derby clash with the Hoops three points clear of their rivals and with a superior goal difference. Honduras ace Palma hasn't started for Celts since the middle of February since coming back from injury and has found himself in a bit-part role under Brendan Rodgers.

But he insists he is loving life in Scotland, in an TV interview in his homeland. Palma said: "I think we are now back on track fully. We are finishing well as a team. Our most important game of the season is coming and there is no margin for error because Rangers are just below us. We know we need to close them off and win all the remaining games if we want to be champions again.

"I have scored some important goals for Celtic, but the best one was against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Time has passed very quickly since I first signed for Celtic. I think I have adapted quickly and I have played in so many great competitions here. Personally, for me I see it as a great season."

And Palma is desperate to return to international football this summer after being forced to miss Honduras' Copa America playoff defeat to Costa Rica in March. Honduras have two World Cup qualifiers in June against Cuba and Bermuda and Palma said: "I couldn't be at the Costa Rica game due to injury, I wanted to help the national team, but it wasn't possible.
