Luis Diaz's four-word reaction to meeting Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool training ground

Luis Diaz has been familiarising himself with his new surroundings as a Liverpool player - including a meeting with one of his new team-mates.

The Reds completed the £49million signing of the Colombia international in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

After completing his application for a work permit, Diaz arrived on Merseyside on Friday where he travelled to the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby.

The 25-year-old took part in various media duties, including photo shoots and interviews, as well as having a light training session.

Diaz also met Jurgen Klopp, Pep Lijnders and some members of the Liverpool squad on his first day in the building.

One player he ran into was Virgil van Dijk, along with Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

In a video released by LFC TV, when meeting Van Dijk, the pair exchanged a a hug as well as an informal welcome before Diaz went into another room to talk to Klopp and Lijnders.

Immediately after meeting the Dutchman, Diaz turned to Klopp and said: “He is so big.”

Diaz went on to say: “Van Dijk… yes, so big!

“But he is fast with his feet. He is a very technical player.”
