Reds transfer news: Luis Diaz tipped to be 'huge success' at Liverpool

Journalist Pete O’Rourke reckons that Luis Diaz has everything to become a success at Liverpool.

The Colombian winger was Jurgen Klopp’s only January addition following his highly-anticipated arrival from Porto.

Liverpool weren’t meant to pursue a deal for the 25-year-old until the summer, although a bid from Tottenham saw Klopp’s side bring their interest forward, with the Reds eventually completing a £37.5m deal, while the winger was away on international duty.

Spurs had been in talks over a deal to sign Diaz, although Liverpool quickly came in and became frontrunners for his signature.

Diaz has been in blistering form for Porto this season, scoring 16 goals and laying on six assists in 28 appearances, and he already gave the Anfield faithful a glimpse of his ability with an impressive display off the bench against Cardiff.

Despite a defection preventing him from claiming a first Liverpool assist in the FA Cup, Diaz was heavily involved in the second goal on Sunday, with his cut back eventually thumped home by Takumi Minamino, although Diogo Jota’s miss-kick saw him credited with the assist.

Diaz will be hoping to go one better and gain his first Reds start when they host Leicester on Thursday, especially with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane only recently returning from the African Cup of Nations.

Regardless, O’Rourke has tipped the exciting wide man to prove a success in English football.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “He looks a player with real potential, and I think he’s got all of the attributes to be a huge success in the Premier League.”
