Lucas Digne provides injury update after West Ham vs Aston Villa clash

Lucas Digne has given fans an injury update after the Aston Villa left-back was substituted just 10 minutes into Sunday's defeat at West Ham United.

Digne, 28, went down clutching his hamstring at the London Stadium and was swiftly replaced by Ashley Young. Villa went on to lose the game 2-1, as Digne watched helplessly from the substitutes' bench.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard commented on the injury after the game, saying: "He [Digne] says it is a small muscle injury. We will analyse it with an MRI scan. I am positive in what Lucas has said to me, but he is obviously a major doubt for the Arsenal game."

Digne took to his Instagram account to provide an update of his own for Villa fans, posting a picture of his injured leg elevated in what looked like a compression sleeve with the caption "My best friend for the next days."

Villa were previously without the Frenchman earlier this month in their 4-0 victory over Southampton due to illness, with his return coming against Leeds United last Thursday.

In the event that Digne is unavailable for selection against Arsenal on Saturday, versatile veteran Young will be in line to start at left back as Gerrard looks to get back to winning ways.

The Villans were on a three-game winning streak before being edged out at the London Stadium, Andriy Yarmolenko and Pablo Fornals putting the Hammers 2-0 up before Jacob Ramsey reduced the arrears in the dying minutes of the game.
