'Love it' - Bolton Wanderers dressing room reaction to Ricardo Santos signing new contract

Bolton Wanderers captain Ricardo Santos has committed his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal at the club.

The 26-year-old central defender has played 91 times for Wanderers since joined the club in the summer of 2020. He has established himself as a key player for Ian Evatt's side in that time.

He was appointed club captain last October and his previous deal at the club had been due to expire in the summer of 2023. There had been interest in the Bolton skipper from sides in the Championship.

But the player is adamant he did not want to go elsewhere and is happy to put some roots down well and truly at the club. Wanderers aim to reach the Championship next season and Santos wants to be a part of that.

He said: "I feel like a new signing. It’s just exciting. I’m happy to get it all done and I can’t wait for next season.

"I’ve got a young family now and I always wanted to be here. I always told the gaffer I didn’t want to go anywhere else.

“The gaffer believes a lot in me, the club is going places and I want to go on that journey with the club.Last year was our first time trying in League One. I think it was a decent season and next season we want to get promoted.

“The Championship is the aim. I want to be there as a player for my career and I want to do it with Bolton. The gaffer has got a good team here. He’s got the people he wants. It looks exciting and I can’t wait for next season.”

Members of the Wanderers dressing room have taken to Twitter to have their say on the annoucement that Santos has comitted his future to the club. It has been met with universal approval.
