Lorraine Kelly sends heartfelt message to Jamie Theakston live on air after cancer news

Lorraine Kelly has expressed her heartfelt wishes to Jamie Theakston on her ITV morning programme as he faces a health battle with cancer.

Jamie Theakston, aged 53 and known for his role as a radio host, shared with his online followers on Tuesday (September 17) that he had undergone surgery to remove a lesion from his vocal cords, which was later diagnosed as Stage 1 laryngeal cancer.

"So...I have cancer... but cancer doesn't have me! " he declared to his supporters. "The prognosis is very positive and I'm hoping to be back with you in October."

Theakston, who co-hosts the breakfast show on weekdays alongside Amanda Holden, has been advised to rest his voice until he makes a full recovery.

"Until then, I leave you in the mostly capable hands of JK [Jason King] and Amanda [Holden]. Huge thanks to them and all the Global Family who have been unbelievably supportive.", reports the Daily Record.

He added: "Be thankful for this day, and when I see you next, I'll have a great story to tell." It was after listeners noticed a change in his voice while on air that Jamie sought medical advice.

On September 1, in an update regarding his health, the DJ expressed gratitude towards his audience for their encouragement to seek medical attention. "Got it checked Doctors found a lesion on my vocal cords which I've had removed this weekend thanks for all the kind messages should be back on my feet soon," he posted.

Jamie's news that he has been diagnosed with cancer has sparked an outpouring of warm wishes and expressions of support from his friends and admirers.

On her programme, Lorraine Kelly shared Theakston's update and expressed her compassion with the words: "Of course, we send him all our love and good wishes."
