Lorraine Kelly issues warning to pet owners after beloved dog rushed to emergency room

Lorraine Kelly has issued a warning to pet owners this Christmas after her beloved sausage dog was rushed to the emergency room.

Adorable Ruby, who has her own dedicated Instagram account, became poorly after eating some chocolate from Lorraine's bag. The TV presenter told fans she was a 'wreck' when the 18-month-old dachshund had to be taken to the vets and put on a drip.

Sharing an update on Thursday (December 14), Lorraine urged her 528k Instagram followers to be careful this festive period. She posted a photo of sweet Ruby snuggled up in a blanket, her large brown eyes looking up at the camera.

Alongside the snap, she penned: "Good morning from @rubyisasausage - she’s fully recovered from her ordeal (she ate chocolate and had to be rushed to the emergency room).

"She wants everyone to make sure chocolate, mince pies and other dangerous treats aren’t left lying around for dogs and puppies to snaffle this #christmas".

Earlier this week, Lorraine shared a photo of poorly Ruby wearing a cone and hooked up to a drip. In a later update, she revealed Ruby was 'fine now' and thanked fans and friends for their love and support.

Lorraine's entertainment presenter Ria Hebden wrote: "Thank goodness xx" as @me_ecp penned: "Bless her and you so glad she’s okay". @tracyphilrosy said: "Bless her heart, so glad she is ok. Beautiful girl xx" while @momma_wooly_1 reckoned: "Best Christmas present having her ok".
