Lorenzo Amoruso claims Celtic are 'inferior' to Lazio as Rangers hero loads Champions League swipe with fear

Lorenzo Amoruso has hit Celtic with a Champions League jibe ahead of their clash with Lazio - but his jabs come alongside a dose of scepticism around the Serie A side.

The Rangers legend has been previewing the Group E clash back in his homeland and he has his concerns surrounding Maurizio Sarri's side. They sit 16th in Serie A after a calamitous start to the campaign domestically but they did start their European campaign with a point at home to Atletico Madrid.

Amoruso - who featured for Rangers between 1997-2003 while winning three Premiership titles - still claims Lazio are a far stronger outfit than Brendan Rodgers' men. But he can't shake his fear over what could be the downfall of Sarri's team. He told TVPlay: “I say yes, definitely (Lazio starting as favourites). The values are different, Lazio is stronger. We just need to better understand this Lazio, a start to the season in which it is unable to demonstrate its strength, even through performances and not just results.

"Lazio is not living up to expectations, this must be underlined. Celtic, in any case, are certainly inferior, but they will have the support of 57-58 thousand spectators who push the team.

"There are Lazio players who are used to these matches, but in words it's all easy. In Glasgow, and I know something about it, it's not easy to play as opponents and the home team always benefits from it, there's little to say.

"If Lazio doesn't have the right attitude, thinking that the quality is enough to overwhelm Celtic's competitive spirit, then they could have problems. Celtic have quick and fast people up front."
