Lordswood head to the Rochester Utilities Stadium, Rede Court Road for Tuesday night’s Southern Counties East Division 1 play-off semi-final and a chance to meet SE Dons on Saturday in the promotion final at Chatham

Medway sides Rochester United and Lordswood meet tonight for a place in a promotion play-off final.

Tuesday night’s Southern Counties East Division 1 play-off semi-final match comes just three days after the two teams met in the final game of the regular season.

Lordswood were 1-0 winners at Rochester’s Rede Court Road ground on Saturday, thanks to Rameses Meseorisa’s goal after just 10 minutes. Both teams were already guaranteed a play-off place and will now meet again in a game with real meaning.

Rochester – who started the season in winning form that only a handful of other teams in the country could match – fell away from the title race and must now make do with a place in the play-offs and a home clash against near neighbours Lordswood.

The winners will meet SE Dons on Saturday in the final, where the victors will be promoted to the SCEFL Premier, joining Division 1 champions AFC Greenwich Borough at the next level.

Rochester boss Michael Betts spoke to the club’s media after their weekend loss and said: “Lordswood were decent first half, we struggled going up the hill, we didn’t keep the ball well enough.

“This has been a little bit of a problem for us in the last two or three games where we’ve not had much to play for – the levels and standards that we expect and have set ourselves have been a bit below par.

“It is what it is. We did the job we set out at the start of the season, we said we wanted play-offs, we’ve got them, we’ve got a home tie which is good.

“Hopefully the boys will come back to life and do the job.

“We’re confident and we’ve shown this year that when it comes to the big games we are strong. We’ve beaten Greenwich, MK Dons and Lordswood – all the top seven sides. We know if we turn up we are hard
