Chatham Town Women play away against Sutton United in the quarter-final of the Combined Counties Midweek Cup with Wycombe Wanderers awaiting the winners –Lucy Jones named supporters’ player-of-the-year at weekend awards evening
Chatham Town Women took part in the club’s awards evening on Saturday but are back in cup action tonight.
It’s two and a half weeks since Chats last played a competitive game, rounding off their league campaign with a 3-0 away win at Luton Town on Sunday, April 26.
Keith Boanas’ side face Sutton United Women in the quarter-final of the Women’s Combined Counties Midweek Cup.
Tonight’s match takes place at Gander Green Lane (7.45pm kick-off) with Wycombe Wanderers to travel to the winners in the semi-final.
If Chats get through against Sutton, the semi-final at the Bauvill will be on either May 19 or 21.
AFC Porchester have already made it through to the final, patiently waiting for their opponents. That final has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 27 at Cobham FC’s Reg Madgwick Stadium.
They return to action after a night of celebration at the Bauvill Stadium on Saturday. Chats finished third in the league, won the Isthmian League Cup and were Kent Cup finalists.
Lucy Jones was voted supporters’ player-of-the-season and Summer Wiffen named young player-of-the-season.
Amelia Woodgate picked up the Golden Boot award and also the trophy for most assists.
Ellie Perkins was manager’s player-of-the-season, described as: “A player who has led by example all season long. Consistent, committed, and always giving everything for the badge.”
Another consistent performer, Lottie Sharp, was runner-up for the manager’s award.
Ciara Hynes got crowned players’ player-of-the-season and Ellie Jeffkins was runner-up.
The club person-of-the-year went to Grace Laverick, the club noting: “A truly deserved special recognition award for someone whose hard work, dedication and passion behind the scenes never goes unnoticed.”
