Long delays after collision on M4 in Newport

There are long delays on the M4 in the Newport area after an earlier collision this evening.

The incident occurred on the westbound carriageway between Junction 24 A449 (Coldra) to Junction 25 B4596 (Caerleon) on Thursday, August 24, and there is congestion to Junction 23 (M48 interchange).

Congestion has been exacerbated by an earlier broken down vehicle, according to traffic monitoring service Inrix. All lanes have been re-opened and travel time is around 45 minutes.

Meanwhile the A470 northbound carriageway is partially blocked with queueing traffic, due to accident at A473 Gwaelod-Y-Garth Road (Upper Boat Interchange). There is congestion to Junction 32 of the M4 (Coryton interchange).
