Locals back coastal town slammed as resembling 'abandoned Hollywood set'
The days of holidaymakers flocking to British seaside towns in their droves may be a thing of the past, with the price of a week in the sun proving popular to many families. The faded seaside glamour has now largely been shunned in favour of foreign package holidays.
Coastal towns such as Morecambe may have seen better days, but local people were affronted by a Tripadvisor review which questioned whether it had 'reached the point of 'no return' and claimed it resembled 'a deserted Hollywood film set'.
Another even said of Morecambe: “Some of the people are the best you will ever meet anywhere, but the town, it's a hell hole. Avoid.” Morecambe was once one of the jewels in the crown of Lancashire's coastline, Lancs Live reports.

One of the UK's most popular destinations, its seafront would be packed with holidaymakers taking in arcades, the sea and the sand. During World War II, the resort was particularly loved by servicemen and women, back on home soil after serving abroad.
One of the favourites of the time, Brucciani's ice cream bar still stands on Marine Road West. And it still uses the same ice cream recipe that was so popular back then.
Plans such as the £100m Eden Project have thrust Morecambe back into the spotlight. But with optimism, has come pessimism.
There has also been a call for ‘positive’ publicity around Eden, to counter reports of an open letter circulating around the town, claiming it will never happen - and the council will struggle to raise the remaining money it needs for the attraction.
