Lloyd Harris ousted in Madrid Open 1st round
South Africa's Lloyd Harris suffered a first-round defeat at the Madrid Open clay court event on Monday.
Harris was beaten 7-5, 6-3 by Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, a player who recently impressed by making the Monte Carlo Masters final.
Davidovich Fokina, the world No 29, advanced in 79 minutes against the 38th-ranked South African.
Harris had won the only previous meeting between the pair in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters.

It's been a mixed season for Harris - he entered the Madrid Open with a 7-11 win-loss record for the 2022.
He'll now shift his focus to next week's Italian Open in Rome, with the French Open starting on 22 May.
