Livingston Women drop home points for first time this season with Morton draw

Livingston were unable to recreate the highs of last week as they produced a poor performance in a 1-1 draw at home to Greenock Morton in an SWF Championship clash.

The score tie was the first time the Lionesses have dropped points at home this season, with Shannon Mulligan’s volley not enough in the end.

Following the 10-1 victory last weekend over Renfrew, the Lionesses came into the game on a high, facing up against last-placed Morton. Paul Jaconelli made three changes as Lucy Brown, Raewyn Murphy and Jess Murphy made way for Rebecca Jaconelli, Eve Sommerville and Fiona Walker.

Livi’s previous showing showcased a very quick start, dominating possession and patiently creating chances. This week was the opposite, with the home side rushing and resorting to hopeful long balls. Due to this, there was a real lack of clear-cut chances in the first half.

The best chance of the half fell to Morton, with a one v one being tremendously saved by Charlotte Ferguson in the Livi goal.

The second half saw Beth McKay replace Sommerville in hopes to ignite the Livingston performance but it was very much an echo of the first. The first instance of Livi creating a good chance saw Jen Dodds break to the byline and cut back to Jaconelli but her effort was tame and eventually rolled wide.

Mulligan would break the deadlock with a great moment of quality an hour in. A free-kick from Brogan Anderson was expertly controlled and volleyed into the back of the net for her 10th goal of the season.

A triple sub soon followed the breakthrough, moving the Lionesses into a unique shape with only two recognisable defenders on the park, a move that didn’t help the team's rhythm.
