Livingston stopper determined to turn season from 'good' to 'great'

Livingston goalie Shamal George says the club can turn their season from ‘good’ to ‘great’ if they clinch a top six berth today.

The Lions visit Tannadice to take on Dundee United knowing a win is needed for that to happen - on top of a favour from either Kilmarnock or St Johnstone.

If either Killie beat St Mirren in Paisley or the Saints take something from their home clash against Hibs, a win in Dundee would ensure the West Lothian side sneak into the top half in the final pre-split fixture.

He said: “It has been a good season so far but reaching the top six would make it a great season. That is where we want to be ultimately. I am staying positive.

“Getting the three points is all that we can do, we can focus on the other games.

“Obviously they went really close to top six last year and it would be really frustrating if we don’t get it but we can’t look at the past. We just need to get the three points.”

As he approaches the end of his first season in Scotland, the 25-year-old former Colchester United stopper admits the standard of the Scottish Premiership is higher than expected, commenting: “The standards have been a lot better than I was used to.

“People try to compare it to League One down south but the quality in this league is much better.

“You get bigger crowds and that is what you want as a young player. It has been great to get that experience at a fairly young age.”
