Livingston snap up experienced defender as they bolster squad
Livingston have bolstered their squad by signing experienced defender Ryan McGowan.
The 34-year-old Australian, who counts Hearts, Dundee United, Bradford City and St Johnstone amongst his former clubs, arrives on a two-year deal.
McGowan has been recognised with 22 caps for the Australian national team and played at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
He told the club’s website: “I’m delighted to be here, I was really excited when the opportunity to come here came around.
“Having played against Livingston numerous times I know a lot about what they want to achieve and it’s a Premiership club that’s just dropped down.
“My role and responsibilities within that is to try and get us up there this season, and then go from there.
“Our target for this season is to win the league and be back in the Premiership, where all the players, staff and people around the club believe that we should be, so as players it’s our responsibility to make sure we’re doing that week in, week out.
“But coming down, it’ a bit of a target on your back, so we need to make sure we’re prepared for the upcoming season.”
Ryan is the brother of Hamilton Accies defender Dylan, who he will come up against in the Championship this season.
