Livingston boss confirms Jack McMillan and Craig Sibbald set to leave club in the summer

Livingston boss David Martindale says Jack McMillan and Craig Sibbald are amongst those set to leave the club in the summer.

And he admitted Sunday’s Premiership finale against Dundee will be a chance for the squad to thank the fans for all their support this season.

The gaffer said he's aiming to get as many of the departing players on the pitch as possible as they sign off on the season and give them the chance of one last appearance in front of the supporters.

Bathgate lad McMillan has spent five seasons with the club, totalling 85 appearances, while Sibbald signed for the Lions following their promotion to the top flight in 2018. He has played over 100 times for Livi.

Both have struggled for game time this season with the latter having twice caught covid and suffered a nasty ankle injury in September. Neither player has started a game in 2022.

Speaking to the West Lothian Courier, Martindale said: “We want to finish on a high but I need to give boys opportunities at the same time – although I don’t think that will be detrimental to the team.

“I’ve got one eye on next year but there’s also a chance on Sunday to give guys who are leaving the opportunity to play in front of the fans and get the recognition they deserve for their time at the club.

“Jack McMillan is going to be going elsewhere and looking for first team football. I shook his hand and wished him all the best. Craig Sibbald is very similar and we’ll tick that off early next week.

“This season hasn’t panned out how we all hoped for both players but they’re both brilliant lads and I want them to get the send-off they deserve.

“You also have loan players who will be returning to their parent club.”
