Livingston boss blasts team and admits some aren't 'doing their jobs properly'

Livingston boss David Martindale had strong words for his team following their 2-0 loss to Kilmarnock and admitted some aren't 'doing their jobs properly.'

The Lions terrible run of form over recent months continued as a goal early on in the second-half from Kyle Vassell was added to by a Daniel Armstrong penalty just after the hour mark.

Defeat means Livi have picked up just seven points from the last 33 available since victory over Killie in February saw them climb into fourth place.

A dejected Martindale commented: "Right now, there are certain individuals within the group who are not doing their jobs properly.

“The foundations of Livingston are built on people doing the basics right. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it’s my job to find the solution and I will find the solution. I will take that on the chin."

He added: "There is an element within the group with boys who are not going to be here next season for different reasons and they know they are safe in terms of relegation.

“But in the last two or three games, the opposition have shown more desire to do the basics of football better than we are doing.

"Our away form since the turn of the year has been nothing short of horrific. I have changed the shape and the personnel but we are not getting the winning formula. I would have happily walked away from here at half-time with a 0-0.

“We then lose a stupid goal and a penalty which is a penalty all day long. We speak about it all the time but players still throw their hands in the air.

“We only have ourselves to blame as we are not doing the basics at both ends of the park. It is definitely a confidence issue but we need to dig deep and get it back.”
