Livingston boss admits there can be 'no fear' as Lions look to end winless run

Livingston boss David Martindale says his side have to play without fear as they look to end a six-game losing streak.

The Lions host Hibs on Saturday on their worst run of defeats since their promotion to the top flight six seasons ago.

But the gaffer insists that all has to be forgotten once the players step onto the park.

Livi have the benefit of rest given that their clash against Ross County last weekend was postponed due to the weather, while the Easter Road side played on Sunday against Aberdeen and are set for a trip to Parkhead tomorrow.

Speaking to the Courier, Martindale said: “There has to be no fear regardless of the position we’re in. If we were higher up the table or five points adrift at the bottom, it shouldn’t matter when it comes to playing the game.

“Nothing should change because we can only focus on the impact that we can have on the game and try to go out there and pick up points.

“Hibs will be a tough game and they’ll pose a different threat now under Nick Montgomery than when we played them earlier in the season under Lee Johnson. We’ve got the players and ability to take something from the game and that’s the aim.”

The boss believes it may take just one positive result to help the Lions roar back up the table, but admitted there’s still plenty of hard work ahead regardless.

He said: “I think the confidence the players would get from a win or picking up a positive result would be huge and it gives everyone a lift. It could take just one result to spark something and go on a wee run but even that’s not a given because every game is tough.

“It’s easy to say and think that’s what might happen but you still need to go out and earn your results and wins. There’s really fine margins in the Premiership
