Liverpool: Roberto Firmino's insane skill vs Arsenal in 2019 remembered

Roberto Firmino has been one of the Premier League’s surprise packages in 2022/23 thus far.

While Liverpool as a whole have been incredibly poor by their lofty standards, the Brazilian striker has been at the very top of his game.

Firmino bagged a brace in the Reds’ recent 3-3 draw with Brighton at Anfield, which saw him move to five goals and three assists from six league appearances.

The 31-year-old is averaging a goal contribution every 52 minutes and he’ll be eager to keep up that record on Sunday when Liverpool travel to play an old foe in Arsenal.

The Gunners are one of Firmino’s favourite English opponents.

In 13 Premier League games against the north London outfit, the ever-smiling forward has scored nine goals and assisted a further three.

Firmino’s greatest ever display against Arsenal came in December of 2018, when he scored a marvellous hat-trick in a 5-1 demolition job on Merseyside.

But forget that treble, because the South American star produced something even more mesmerising when the Gunners came to town the following August.

In yet another convincing victory for Liverpool at Anfield, this time by a 3-1 scoreline, Firmino produced a piece of skill that – in our opinion anyway – ranks among the best ever witnessed in the Premier League era.

While on the edge of the box, Firmino had the chance to play the ball to a free Andy Robertson, but opted to take the FIFA Street route instead to humiliate Dani Ceballos.

With Ceballos no more than two yards away from him, the Brazil international somehow managed to scoop the ball up and over his opponent’s head.

The skill even allowed Firmino to have a shot at goal on the volley…
