Liverpool loanee slams 'clearly fake' Blackpool text exchange with suggestion Preston fan created it

Blackpool's new defender Rhys Williams has batted away a text exchange shared on social media as 'clearly fake'.

The Seasiders signed the 21-year-old on a season-long loan from Jurgen Klopp's side with centre half a priority area of improvement for new Head Coach Michael Appleton at the time. Williams, a known Preston North End supporter, made the decision to move to Bloomfield Road despite his boyhood club links.

Williams moved to make it clear that a text exchange that emerged on social media, posted by Blackpool supporters group 'the Muckers' is fake. It was an unwanted distraction for the new signing who will hope this latest move will bring some much needed game time as he hopes to still have a future at Anfield going forward.

"Can’t believe I’ve woken up to this nonsense, no number no name, clearly fake and you’re here giving me loads. I’ve never had this conversation, and I’m here to give 100% for Blackpool," Williams said on Twitter in response to the Muckers original post.

The group would respond: "If it’s not true and you are saying that then we will have to take your word on that - but thank the PNE fan who has made it up to have you questioned on it. Pro footballer waking up at this time as well? Been pulled in by the club more like and told to reply but thanks anyway"

Blackpool have form for social media causing issues with loanees - back in 2014 Norwich City loanee Jacob Murphy, 19-years-old at the time, posted a Snapchat prior to the Boxing Day defeat to Sheffield Wednesday saying 'We are going to lose again.' Murphy's loan spell was terminated on New Years Eve as a result in an embarrassing season for the Seasiders under previous ownership that saw them relegated from the Championship.
