Liverpool: Klopp ‘should be looking at’ £15m midfielder at Anfield

Liverpool should ‘be looking at’ unwanted Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare this summer, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The 23-year-old is believed to be surplus to requirements at the King Power Stadium following an underwhelming maiden campaign in English football.

A recent report from the Daily Mail has revealed that Crystal Palace are ‘keen on a move’ for Soumare with Leicester happy to sanction his sale despite paying Lille £17 million for his services just over a year ago.

The Foxes are believed to be eager to recoup the majority of their outlay on the former France Under-21 international, though, a stipulation that ended negotiations with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.  

Nevertheless, a formal offer is yet to arrive for Soumare from the Eagles, opening the door for other sides to potential swoop in and snap him up.

And Liverpool are one side currently short of midfield options after Thiago suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-2 against Fulham on the opening day of the season.

The experienced campaigner has been ruled out for up to six weeks and joins fellow engine room operators Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the Reds’ injury list.

Despite his struggles at Leicester, Taylor believes that Soumare would be ‘a steal’ for Liverpool if they can sign him for just £15 million.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think £15 million for a player like Soumare is a steal. I think someone like Liverpool should be looking at that.

“Call me crazy, but at 23 years old, he’s a player that’s played in the Champions League and has a really high potential, £15 million pounds, even if he’s just a backup player that sits on the bench, I think there’s no risk in signing him.
