Everton: £30m 'freak' could make late move to Goodison Park

Everton are one to ‘keep an eye on’ in the race for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr this summer, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Hornets following their relegation to the Championship last term, with several Premier League clubs credited with an interest in him.

A recent report from the Evening Standard claimed that potential suitors Crystal Palace and Everton would have to splash out £30 million to sign Sarr, the figure that Watford stumped up back in 2019.

However, it appeared as though Aston Villa had beaten the Senegal international’s potential suitors to his signature when they had a £25m plus add-ons offer accepted for him.

But the deal collapsed after issues emerged when Watford and the Villans began to discuss the details, including the possibility of Cameron Archer or Kortney Hause moving in the opposite direction on loan.

And now The Mirror has provided an update on Sarr’s situation, stating that the Vicarage Road outfit are determined not to sell their prized asset despite plying their trade in the second tier.

It’s claimed that a new contract offer is being prepared for the pacey attacker, who has just two years remaining on his existing deal.

Everton are in danger of losing academy graduate Anthony Gordon in a £60m deal to Chelsea just weeks after Tottenham Hotspur signed Richarlison for the same fee.

And Taylor believed that Sarr is another attacker who ‘could move elsewhere’ before the window closes and named the Toffees as a team who may make a move for him.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think Sarr is a player that could move elsewhere in the Premier League in the final weeks of the window. Everton are one that I would keep an eye on.”
