Liverpool have major Trent Alexander-Arnold worry ahead of Man City challenge

Manchester City will be quietly keen to learn of any injury concerns ahead of their huge title showdown with Liverpool on April 10.

The two clubs are separated by just a point going into the fine nine matches of the Premier League season. They play each other twice in a packed April schedule, meeting in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley six days after their league encounter.

But most attention is being focussed on their ‘six-pointer’ clash at the Etihad, which could ultimately impact which club lifts the league trophy. City have injury concerns of their own with John Stones pulling out of the England squad after sustaining a knock during the warm-up prior to a 2-1 friendly win over Switzerland.

Ruben Dias is also still making his way back from a hamstring injury, although has been pictured in training much earlier than expected. Liverpool do not have a clean bill of health either with Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined due a hamstring problem of his own.

The Athletic reports that the right-back is facing “a race against time” to be ready in time for the City game with the England international already set to miss the Reds’ league game with Watford and Champions League first leg with Benfica. His absence would be greatly felt with Alexander-Arnold being his club’s most creative player this season, tallying up 11 assists.

Joe Gomez is likely to fill in for the 23-year-old for the time being and might start against City if his teammate isn’t ready in time. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah only came on as a second half substitute in Liverpool’s win over Arsenal earlier this month, and was left out of the squad that beat Nottingham Forest in the FA
