Liverpool fan 'vanishes' in Paris before Champions League final as son issues plea

A Liverpool fan has gone missing in Paris after travelling to the French capital for Saturday night's Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Jimmy Hargreaves, 66, was last seen in the early hours of Friday morning near a bar on Rue des Dames.

His son James, 31, has issued a plea for fellow Reds fans to keep an eye out in a bid to find his dad.

Local police have been notified but Mr Hargreaves, who was wearing a green coat and red t-shirt when last season, had still not been found early on Friday morning.

James said that he last saw his dad near Lush Bar on Rue des Dames at around 1.40am. He said his dad, who does not have a mobile phone, went missing between the venue and the Novotol Suites Paris Montreuil Vincennes hotel, where they are staying, five miles east.

On his @ScouseRepublic Twitter feed, James wrote at 2:08am: "Any reds out n about in Paris, me dad has vanished. We’re staying at novotol montreuil Vincennes, can’t find him. Any help. Message us cheers."

James then provided a further update on Friday morning: "Been out in a plod car and checked local bars. Me dads got no phone on him, and I’d be shocked if he knew where we was. If you see him give us a shout please.

"Still no joy. Police have said coz he’s an adult they won’t be able to do much. He’s gone missing in between Lush bar and our hotel near port de Montreuil. Not a clue how we’re going to find him."

His plea for assistance was shared by thousands of fans on social media and Liverpool legends such as Jamie Carragher and Dietmar Hamann.

James told the Liverpool Echo : "Just to keep an eye out, he’s a sound fella and will talk to anyone, names Jimmy."

If anyone sees Jimmy, please contact @ScouseRepublic on Twitter.
