Liverpool expect Salah to stay focused despite doubts over his future

Liverpool do not expect Mohamed Salah to down tools at Anfield as he prepares to enter the final year of his contract at the club, according to reports.

The 30-year-old is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal after the Reds failed to match his £400,000-a-week salary demands.

The two parties appear to be at an impasse, as things stand, and there is now a real possibility that he could walk away from the club for nothing in 2023.

Liverpool feel he will maintain his focus, though, and not let his standards dip over the next 12 months, as reported by The Mirror.

It is understood that Salah still has a healthy relationship with manager Jurgen Klopp, despite his future on Merseyside remaining uncertain.

It has also been claimed that he has conducted himself professionally throughout negotiations, even though he has not reached an agreement with the club on a contract extension. 

Since arriving at Anfield in 2017, the Egyptian winger has achieved a remarkable level of consistency, scoring 156 goals in 254 matches.

He has won the Premier League Golden Boot on three occasions in the last five seasons, and lifted every major trophy available at Liverpool.

Salah has achieved most of his success alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in recent years, but Mane is now on the brink of leaving Klopp's side.

The Senegalese forward is set to be unveiled as a Bayern Munich player in the coming days.

The Premier League club have spent a club-record transfer fee on Darwin Nunez from Benfica to replace him, and Klopp can also call upon Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, highlighting that he is hardly short of attacking options.
