Liverpool: Bundesliga midfielder now 'very gettable' at Anfield

Liverpool could be able to complete a deal for RB Leizpig midfielder Konrad Laimer before the summer transfer window closes, with the Bundesliga side potentially prepared to sell, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

Jurgen Klopp has overseen a steady few months of business at Anfield but has been forced back into the market at the last minute because of injuries.

Klopp admitted last week that Liverpool were now looking for a midfield signing with Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all suffering injury troubles.

“We are looking for it,” the German said after Liverpool’s 9-0 win over Bournemouth. “If it is the right player, we need him. If it is not the right player, we don’t need him.”

RB Leipzig ace Laimer is understood to be one name on the Reds’ wishlist, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Liverpool consider the 24-year-old as a ‘cheap option’.

Despite the £49,000 per-week star being in the final year of his contract, the journalist adds that the Bundesliga outfit have no intention to let him leave, other than for a ‘crazy bid’.

However, reports from Germany, via Liverpool Echo, have suggested that a fee in the region of £25 million could also be enough to tempt Leipzig into a sale.

Jacobs understands that Laimer’s move to Liverpool is still a very real possibility with Leipzig now not shutting down enquiries from the Reds.

The journalist reports that if an offer comes in, the Germans could be prepared to sell.
