Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards hilariously bellowed Thiago's chant as he produced another masterful display for Liverpool in their 2-0 victory over Villarreal.
The Spaniard is one of the most in-form midfielders in Europe and ran the show once again as the Reds secured a 2-0 win in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night. As well as controlling the tempo from the centre of the Anfield pitch, Thiago went agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock at the end of the first half.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich star saw his thunderous drive from well outside the area cannon back off the post as the visitors managed to cling on until the interval. Liverpool would go on to claim a commanding aggregate lead thanks to an own-goal from Pervis Estupinan and a strike from Sadio Mane.
Over in the CBS Sports studio, there was yet another amusing moment involving pundits Carragher and Richards as they were shown the highlights from the first half. Rather than opting for conventional analysis of Thiago's powerful effort, they simply burst into song and began dancing as they called out his chant, which the Anfield faithful have put to the tune of 'Cuba' by the Gibson Brothers.
The two former England internationals roared: "Thiago... Thiago Alcantara!" It certainly was a performance worthy of a song and the 31-year-old was duly named Player of the Match at full-time. He could also scoop the Player of
