LIVE updates from Manchester Airport on Sunday as passengers hope to avoid long queues

Sunday is set to be another busy at Manchester Airport as many passengers jet off on their Easter holidays.

Passengers have been arriving early in recent days in a bid to tackle to the chaotic scenes of long queues for security and crowded check-in halls. Airlines and travel firms have encouraged people to arrive with plenty of time to spare.

On Saturday, many reported that the situation at the airport was 'more organised' than how it had been previously. Queues were reported to be moving smoothly.

Today (Sunday), our reporter Ramazani Mwamba will be heading back to the airport to report on the latest situation for passengers. He'll be looking at the queues, as well as speaking with passengers preparing to jet out of Manchester and those arriving back.

The problems at the airport are set to continue for some time, with Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham warning queues could continue for two months - just a day after the airport's managing director Karen Smart quit the company to return to the South of England.

The airport has previously said: "As we continue to recover from the pandemic and passenger numbers grow, security queues may be longer than usual at times. If you're due to travel in the next few weeks, please arrive at the earliest time your airline allows. We apologise to our customers for the disruption".
