LIVE updates: Emergency services scrambled to Ancoats after police incident

Emergency services were scrambled to Ancoats tonight after a reported police incident. The Manchester Evening News has also received reports the air ambulance has landed close to the scene.

Images from the scene - at Pollard Street's junction with Carruthers Street - show ambulances and police cars parked up. They appear to be situated near to the old Bank of England pub.

The busy crossroads - on a Metrolink line - marks the point where the busy A662 meets Merrill Street, which leads on to Ashton New Road towards the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City host Brighton in the Premier League tonight.

Reports from witnesses at the scene suggest one person has been taken to hospital, but nothing has been confirmed as yet by police.

Images also show North West Ambulance Service incident response units at the scene.

The Manchester Evening News has asked Greater Manchester Police for comment.
