Live updates as trial of Carl Silcox who is accused of murdering Adell Cowan is about to start
A man is facing trial today for the murder of Adell Cowan who was found dead in her own home. Carl Silcox has pleaded not guilty to both murder and manslaughter.
Ms Cowan, 42, was found dead at a property in Dol-Yr-Eos, Caerphilly, on October 17, 2020. Silcox, 44, of Ty Cornel, Commercial Street, Aberbargoed, wasn't charged until 15 months later in February, 2022.
The defendant's trial is due to begin at Cardiff Crown Court today. The case is estimated to last around two weeks.
Speaking at the time of her death, Ms Cowan's family said: "Adell was a much-loved sister, auntie, niece and friend to many. She was bubbly, sociable and well-known in the community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her."
