Major police scene in Droylsden amid reports of 'stabbing' - live updates

A huge police cordon is in place after reports this lunchtime of a stabbing incident in Tameside.

Police officers are at the scene and the police helicopter is said by witnesses to be circling the area overhead.

According to reports, emergency services are responding to reports of a serious incident - possibly a stabbing - in the Droylsden area.

It's understood to be around the area of Palm Street, off Lewis Road, but traffic is said to be building around the Edge Lane bridge.

Reports from the scene suggest five police cars and a van are present, as well as the helicopter. The exact nature of the incident hasn't been confirmed and it's not known whether there have been any injuries.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment.
