LIVE updates as serious crash closes major road with air ambulance landing

A stretch of a busy road has been closed off by the emergency services after reports of a serious road traffic collision on Friday afternoon. Police have confirmed to the Manchester Evening News that a man has been hit by a car.

The air ambulance was called to the scene on Moston Lane, in the Moston area of north Manchester, at around 1.20pm today - Friday.

GMP confirmed a police scene was in place and a man has been taken to hospital in an ambulance. It's understood the air ambulance landed on a plot of wasteland nearby, but wasn't required.

There's been no further update on his condition, with police saying investigations were ongoing at the scene. No age for the man has been released either.

Images from the scene show a huge emergency services presence, with police vehicles and paramedics all gathered on Moston Lane.

According to reports at the scene, Moston Lane has been closed from Bute Street to Cole Street.

Greater Manchester Police have released an initial statement, with further details expected later today.

The force has also issued a public appeal.

We are currently responding to an incident on Moston Lane to initial reports of a road traffic collision.

A man is currently receiving treatment by paramedics, with the extent of the injuries suffered unknown at this time.

Anyone with information that may help our officers with their initial enquiries, is asked to call 101 quoting incident 1599 and 30/06/2024.
