Live updates as powerful gusts bring down trees and block roads in Wales

More strong winds and heavy rain are on the way to Wales on Thursday after thunderstorms caused power cuts and brought down trees on Wednesday.

A tornado brought down a row of trees, closing part of the A470. The A470 between Builth Wells and Erwood was closed at 1.45pm on Wednesday afternoon (November 23) following the incident, and remains shut this morning. The A4066 in Carmarthenshire is also closed both directions because of a fallen tree between Llanmiloe and Laugharne .

Forecasters have warned there may be impacts to road, rail, air and ferry transport, with flooding possible in homes and businesses. Gusts of up to 70mph along parts of the coast are forecast, while exposed areas and higher ground are also set to be affected.
