Live updates as M4 traffic causes miles of traffic
There are long delays on the M4 around Newport after all traffic was held eastbound as a result of a crash. Traffic cameras show gridlocked traffic on the motorway around junction 24 for Coldra as a result of the crash.
According to traffic monitoring system INRIX the traffic was held at around 6.45am on Wednesday, October 9. Live traffic maps show miles of queues in the area during rush hour. Currently traffic trails from the M4 Coldra roundabout linked to the A449 with queues for miles to just before High Cross.
All lanes have now reopened but severe congestion remains in the area with queues of up to 60 minutes. As well as on the motorway itself, there are also delays through the A48 as traffic looks for alternative routes.
