Live updates as M4 crash causing 50-minute long delays

An accident is causing long delays on the M4 on Tuesday morning. Two lanes are blocked and there is queueing traffic with 50-minute delays because of the accident on M4 westbound at junction 42 Briton Ferry.

Traffic monitors are showing that lanes one and two (of two) are blocked with traffic passing on the entry slip road. The accident happened around 9.15am. It is the second accident on the westbound carriageway, after an accident near Porthcawl around 7.30am saw one lane closed for a time. Traffic monitoring system Inrix showed the carriageway was partially blocked between junction 37 Pyle/Porthcawl and junction 38 Margam. The cars involved were moved to the hard shoulder just before 8am but some congestion remained.

Driving conditions on the M4 this morning have been described as poor this morning. Traffic cameras are showing heavy congestion in the area.
