Live updates as gas fire sees families 'evacuated' and road shut

People were reportedly evacuated from their homes near Cardiff city centre. Emergency services are at the scene of a gas fire at the access road leading to the rear of Ikea on Ferry Road.

The road is currently closed in both directions and is expected to remain so for some time. Delays are likely in the area. PureGym Cardiff Bay said its gym was currently shut due to a "gas fire on the retail park" and advised customers to use its other branches.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "We are at the scene of an incident at the access road leading to the rear of Ikea. The access road is currently closed in both directions. It is expected to remain closed for some time. Delays are expected in the area."
