LIVE updates as forensics descend on scene near Longsight Market after stabbing

Police are in attendance following a stabbing near Longsight Market overnight. Officers were called out to the scene at 10.30pm on Monday night (September 2).

They remain in attendance this morning, off Dickenson Road. It's understood forensics investigators are at the scene this morning and an area is cordoned off.

A 32-year-old man suffered life-changing injuries following the incident. More than 10 police cars were seen in attendance on Dickenson Road late last night, plus paramedics.

Eyewitnesses have also reported seeing a tent in place at the scene this morning. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At 10:30pm last night (Monday, September 2) we were called to reports of a stabbing on Dickenson Road, Longsight.

"The victim, aged 32, was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are believed to be life changing. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and identify those involved.

"Anyone with information, or who witnessed this incident, or may have dashcam/CCTV footage, is asked to contact police on 0161 8564259 quoting log number 3728 of September 2, 2024. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
