Live updates as emergency services tackle large fire in Llandysul

Residents have been advised to "stay indoors" in an area of Ceredigion due to a building fire. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews were called to the scene of an incident on Penwalle Road in Llandysul.

While the incident is ongoing, local residents are advised to stay indoors where possible and keep windows and doors closed. People have also been advised to avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for their journey.

A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service confirmed that they were called to the scene at around 7.40am this morning. They also confirmed that a disused building was "well alight" and "fully involved" in fire. They added that the building's roof structure had collapsed "internally".

The statement reads: "At 7.40am on Wednesday, July 17th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Llandysul, Newcastle Emlyn, Lampeter, New Quay, Port Talbot, Aberystwyth and Carmarthen Fire Stations were called to an incident on Penwalle Road in Llandysul.

"This incident is currently ongoing and crews are responding to a disused building that is well alight and fully involved in fire. Crews are utilising hose reel jets and an aerial water tower to fight the fire. The building’s roof structure has collapsed internally."
