Live updates as a month's worth of rain due to fall in parts of Wales today

It might be dry this morning but the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain over the next few days. Parts of Wales are at risk of flooding, the weather and climate service said, with as much as a month's worth of rain set to fall in some areas.

According to the Met Office, there is a “small chance” that homes and businesses could be flooded with the potential for damage to buildings. It has also warned of potentially dangerous driving conditions and road closures as a result of the weather.

The agency's forecast for Wales today says: "A rather cloudy day with outbreaks of rain, especially in southern and central parts where rain turning heavy and persistent at times. Feeling increasingly humid, with a brisk breeze. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

"A largely cloudy night with heavy rain in the south of Wales easing for a time. Feeling warm and muggy overnight and the brisk northeasterly winds continuing. Minimum temperature 14°C."

The warning says: "Some parts missing the worst, but heavy rain becomes more extensive on Thursday, with some flooding impacts... Heavy rain may lead to some travel disruption and flooding in places across southern England and southern Wales during Friday."

Further north, it looks set to remain dry with temperatures of 26°C. forecast for Flintshire on Friday.
